The LCS 305, with 5 axes, is a CNC machine specially developed for the automatic manufacture of larger, multi-toothed diamond cutting tools. The advanced system, featuring five synchronous axes, is characterised by an intelligent machine design and highly dynamic axes, which together ensure maximum precision, speed and efficiency in the manufacturing process.

Further information
The system is equipped with consistent temperature control thanks to water-cooled linear motors and torque motors with a temperature stability of ±0.1 °C, ensuring optimum performance even during prolonged operation. The mineral-cast machine bed contributes to greater stability and reduced vibrations, resulting in improved accuracy and surface quality.
A fully automated offset calibration system is included and integrates several functions – laser nozzle adjustment, automatic beam angle correction, laser power measurement and a contact probe – to ensure the highest possible precision in the settings.
Thanks to the HSK 63 tool holder, tools can be changed with a very high degree of accuracy, making the system ideal for production requiring precision.
Material capacity
The LCS 305 can machine a wide range of materials, from hard supermaterials to metals and technical ceramics:
-
Diamond materials: polycrystalline CBN (PcBN), polycrystalline diamond (PCD), single-crystal diamond (SCD), CVD diamond, natural diamond (ND) and cemented carbide (WC).
-
Metals and alloys: Superalloys, stainless steel, aluminium, copper, titanium and nickel.
-
Ceramics and composites: Ceramic matrix composites (CMC), silicon carbide (SiC), silicon nitride (SiN), zirconia (ZrO₂), HTCC/LTCC (high- and low-temperature co-fired ceramics), aluminium nitride (AlN) and aluminium oxide (Al₂O₃).
Processing options
The machine is optimised for 3D cutting, shaping, drilling, slotting, grooving, pocket milling, cutting, edge machining (K-land edges, single- or multi-angle free-cut edges), engraving and profiling – making it ideal for the manufacture of highly complex diamond tools with precise geometries.
Key benefits
Precise and consistent machining
The cylindrical laser beam creates parallel cuts without a V-shape, producing smooth surfaces and sharp edges with a surface roughness as low as Ra 0.2 µm. Thanks to the cooling properties of the water jet, heat affect on the material is minimised.
Fast and accurate performance
The system is capable of finishing 1.6 mm PCD and carbide at a rate of 3 mm/min, with a mechanical precision of ±5 µm and a cutting width as narrow as 30 µm. This delivers exceptional accuracy and repeatability in production environments.
Simple and straightforward operation
The process produces clean surfaces free from coatings or burrs and requires little or no post-processing. Thanks to the long working distance, neither laser focus nor distance adjustment is required, making operation simple, stable and efficient.
